Ceramics Introduction to Surfaces and Forms

The course focuses on the wide field of ceramic surface decoration. You will gain a wide skill set through a series of tutor-led projects. We will create tiles, moulded dishes as well as more complex 3D forms and vessels. We will imprint and carve textured designs, explore printing painting and experiment with a range of mark making techniques using clay slips, oxides and stains. Basic Glazing techniques will also be covered.

  • What you will study

    You must bring your own apron and do not wear best clothes as you will get a little messy! Each session will finish with cleaning all tools and work areas used as required by health and safety.

  • Entry Requirements

    The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as students who have some experience in the subject and wish to further improve and develop their skills.

  • Moving Forward

    You could join Hand-building Beginners, Ceramics Mixed Ability, Ceramics Constructed, Ceramics Workshop, Surface Decoration, or Ceramics Studio.

  • Duration

    11 weeks

  • Cost and Loans

    The cost for materials for this course is £40 per term, however any additional enrolment in the same term is £30
